Doctors of BC 2018 annual general meeting

Doctors of BC members are invited to attend the 2018 Annual General Meeting being held Saturday, June 2nd at the Robert H Lee Alumni Building at UBC in Vancouver. Onsite registration opens at 8:15 am, with the AGM beginning at 9:30 am. Members who register in advance and attend the meeting will be entered to win an Apple iWatch – generously donated by MD Financial Management.

In the evening, please join us at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre beginning at 5:00 pm for a Reception, followed by the Awards Ceremony at 6:00 pm – which recognizes your colleagues for excellence in their fields.  Register to attend the three-course President’s dinner – where newly installed president Dr Eric Cadesky will talk about his plans for the year. Dr Kathleen Ross becomes President-Elect

Voting for the 2018/2019 election for President-Elect concluded Monday at midnight. The results, announced by Allan Seckel yesterday, saw Dr Kathleen Ross elected as President-Elect of Doctors of BC. Read more... (login required)

 

Candidates for the General Practitioner Board Positions to be elected by the Representative Assembly in June

For your information, here are the candidates for the two (2) Board of Director, General Practitioner positions. The Doctors of BC Board of Directors requires two (2) new General Practitioners, to be elected by the Representative Assembly Delegates at their meeting on June 1st. The two successful candidates will each have a two (2) year term.

The GP candidates up for election are:

Dr Jeffery Dresselhuis
Dr Charuka Maheswaran
Dr Lilah Rossi
Dr Lawrence Welsh

Also, for your information the two (2) Specialist who were acclaimed to the Board of Directors are:

·         Dr Tommy Gerschman – two (2) year term

·         Dr Andrew Yu – one (1) year term

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation have been added as a new specialty to the provincial RACE line and RACEapp+. To access the advice of these specialists through the RACE telephone line, select Menu 5, Line 3 (604-696-2131, toll free 1-877-696-2131).

If you’ve not yet signed up for the RACEapp+, consider this option as another quick and easy way to connect with your specialist colleagues to discuss patient care no matter where you are. As a palliative care physician, Dr Shikha Minhas can’t offer her dying patients miracle cures, but she can give them comfort as they pass.  With her medical expertise and compassionate manner, she has cared for hundreds of patients at Surrey Memorial Hospital during their journey at the end of their lives. Do you work with the MOST form, also known as the Goals of Care (GOC) form at BC Cancer and the Options for Care (OFC) form at Providence Health Care? 

·         Are you a prescriber of MOST/GOC/OFC? 

·         Do you interpret and follow MOST/GOC/OFC orders?

·         Do you talk to people about their MOST/GOC/OFC designation?
